Listen loudly to the sound of God in pain. Screaming, “You damned fool!” What a shame!?

Listen well to the sound of God in child. Smacked face, reflection smiled

Listen to the sound of God in a star. Makes us small, hope’s bright, travels far.

Listen big to the sound of God in her eyes. Can’t you love me right, head low, hurts and cries.

Listen close to the sound of God in the rain. Pounding the ground, moments jumping, muddied stain.

Listen to the sound of God in the warmth of sun. Wrapping, nourishing, sit, walk, run!

Listen now to the sound of God in death. Values questioned, sweetened breath.

Listen to the sound of God in the face of a friend. A smile, a love, strength to lend.

Listen to the sound of God in the twisting clock. It’s ticking, axe sharpened, steadied block.

Listen to the sound of God in crashing wave. Crushing power, breaking, gravity’s slave.

Listen to the sound of God in flower’s bloom. Waking from dark, decorating bride, adorning groom.

Listen closely to the sound of God in sparrow’s song. Sparks of joy, possibilities, we belong.

Listen carefully to the sound of God in crackling fire. Consuming crumbling integrity, judgment waters rising higher.

Listen you, to the sound of God in hooting owl. Warning in the dark with shriek and howl.

Shut up and listen to the sound of God in child’s laughter. Vitality, bright flashes chasing after.

Listen to the sound of God in rustling leaves and dancing tree. Share shade and fruit, stand, smirk, and grin and be.

Listen long and hard to the sounds of God in night. Ears fill with beauty, heart’s warm, what a sight?!

I hear the sound of God in the smell of earth. Falling toward death with courage, readied for birth.
