Pretty little lie
Come to us in our time of need
That we may find peace

Worming Into our head
Great sounding soft friendly errors
This fallacy works in our favor

Because we need story
Blazing trails with sharpened heresy
For our tribe to travel

Take this narrative
Accept it for what it is and smile
I need this to be easy

Weaving tale and myth
The work of artists and preachers
There’s a truth to be found there

Truth is what we believe
So make your world happy friend
And spit another line

Etching symbols
Composing lines and books
Setting frames
All so people feel safer

Pretty little lie
Come to us in our time of need
That we may find peace

Reality can be troubling
Shroud the facts and decorate the real
That we may rest

We will all die
What an unsettling prophecy
Just tell us we’ll live

Keep me from alarm
Secure a smile and laughter for us
And we will pay you

Protect us from offense
Hide us from the starving and empty
That we may eat and be merry

Insulate us from need
Tell us that each man must makes his own
So we don’t feel for our neighbor

Turn trope into song
And let us rehearse the lying lyric
Singing falsity feels better

Pretty little lie
Come to us in our time of need
That we may find peace
